Woo hoo! It's all downhill from here. I completed my 20 mile long run on Saturday. It was a tough run - but it's over. Taper time! Here's a recap of my 40 mile week of running.
Wednesday: 5 miles at local park. Old ladies and mommies with strollers jumped to the other end of the sidewalk when I ran by. Uh, it's not like I am a scary person. Found their reactions weird (and a little insulting) hehe. Totally outran the ROTC runners. I don't know what mile they were on (um, I was on my first one, but who is counting?), but I saw several people in great pain. You know the look -- like someone smashed your face into a window. Nice to see someone in more pain than me for a change. ;)
Thursday: 10 miles at local park. Track guys were out doing workouts. One guy almost ran me over. Rude. I run in the slow lane. Was that necessary?
Friday: 5 miles at gym. 2 miles slow/3 miles of sprints. Too much? Stay tuned.
Saturday: Note to self - don't run this kind of mileage 4 days in a row. Weather = great. Body = not great. Stomach problems = trouble, big trouble. The first 8 miles were rough. I really wanted to quit after the 4th mile. After some gu with caffeine, I felt better. There was a charity walk for MS going on too. Felt good to pass everyone. haha More old ladies JUMPING to the other end of the sidewalk when I ran by. Last two miles = PAINFUL. Couldn't believe that I did it. Was happy to be finished.
Training notes for this week:
Monday: Yesterday was a rest day for me. I cross-trained with DWTS. Who knew Brooke Burke (mother of FOUR!) would turn out to be pretty good.
Today: 5 miles. Easy enough.
